ABOUT THE ARTIST
Abstract artist in his 70s. Most of Vaughan’s artwork can best be described as a sort of primitivism. Spontaneous and intuitive, often with bold colours and simplified shapes. Subjects include gardens / landscapes and totemic faces / figures, often with symbolic imagery relating to an earlier primitive age. Expressive of memories and feelings – sometimes with a mystical / spiritual dimension.
